When The Blogosphere Strikes Back

Whole Foods CEO John Mackey is at it again. In a recent Op-Ed piece in the Wall Street Journal, Mackey wrote:

The last thing our country needs is a massive new health care entitlement that will create hundreds of billions of dollars of new unfunded deficits and move us much closer to a government takeover of our health care system.

The alternative? Healthy food from Whole Foods, of course:

Recent scientific and medical evidence shows that a diet consisting of foods that are plant-based, nutrient dense and low-fat will help prevent and often reverse most degenerative diseases that kill us and are expensive to treat.

Mackey’s comments have ignited a firestorm of protest from bloggers and Whole Foods customers. You’d think that after getting into hot water with the SEC for his earlier borderline-criminal blogging activities, Mackey would exercise a little more discretion online, or at least separate his personal political views from his management of Whole Foods.
